WINDHOEK, APRIL 26 – IBO super bantamweight world champion, Namibia’s Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda on Thursday said he was ready to face-off against challenger American Stephen Fulton Jr ahead of their fight next month.
The Namibian pugilist spoke in the presence of Deputy Sports Minister, Agnes Tjongarero in Windhoek, where he said he was unperturbed by the age or hype surrounding his American counterpart Fulton Jr.
Ahead of the 11 May bout in Fairfax, Virginia, Ambunda said: “I will be traveling to America to face an opponent who is much younger than me. I know he is hungry for success. But an elder is just an elder, and I will take care of him.”
Confident about going up against 24-year old Fulton, 35 year-old Ambunda also claimed that he had more in his tank, stating he could probably continue fighting at the top level for another three or four years.
Ambunda vs Fulton is part of the build-up to the unified IBF and WBA light middleweight championship bout between challenger Julian Williams and Jarrett Hurd. – firstname.lastname@example.org
