KEETMANSHOOP, 25 OCT – A 29-year-old man accused of murdering a 39-year-old man here in May this year, made his fifth appearance in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
The accused, Benny Pieters appeared before Magistrate Frans Anderson who postponed the case to 29 November 2018 to allow for further police investigations.
He stands accused of stabbing Moses Uapingathana in the chest with an okapi knife at a shebeen in Keetmanshoop’s TransNamib residential area on 12 May. Uapingathana died on the spot.
During his first court appearance, Pieters indicated that he would apply for Legal Aid and Quinton Haoseb was appointed to represent him.
Pieters was granted bail of N.dollars 2 500 by Magistrate Murray Shikongo, on condition that he reports to the Bethanie Police Station every Friday between 09h00 and 17h00. Should he fail to do so, a warrant of arrest will be issued.
The State was represented on Thursday by Marlon Adams.
