BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 8 — Brunei is focusing on three main strategies to encourage more Bruneians to work in the private sector, a government minister said on Saturday.
Responding to a query during a Legislative Council session, Haji Ahmaddin Haji Abdul Rahman, Brunei’s coordinating minister for social policies and manpower as well as minister of home affairs, said the strategies are aimed at increasing local participation in the private sector while ensuring the workforce meets industry requirements.
The strategies include prioritizing the recruitment of Bruneians through the assessment of applications and employee-matching services provided by the Brunei Job Center, developing a workforce that meets industry needs, and implementing a minimum wage policy in the private sector.
